Ellen Wagner is "Woman of the Year"

The current publication "Women of the Year 2024/25 – Learning from the best for your own career", published by herCAREER, Europe's leading career and networking platform for women, portrays remarkable "Women of the Year" who have made a name for themselves through bold ideas as well as their expertise, experience and passion – women like Ellen Wagner. She owes her appointment as "Woman of the Year" not only to her entrepreneurial success, but also to her social and societal commitment at various levels.

The second-generation entrepreneur runs Wagner System GmbH in Lahr / Black Forest together with her brother Ulrich Wagner. In the book, the mother of two tells her very personal story: from her studies, her first professional experiences, the sometimes-gruelling time of succession in her parents' company to its ongoing development into a globally active consumer goods manufacturer – Wagner develops and produces multiple award-winning everyday products such as doorstops, furniture glides and castors, transport helpers, plant trolleys and wall hooks.

The 200 employees at the three Wagner factories are also delighted that their lady boss was voted "Woman of the Year". Around fifty per cent of them are women, and the proportion of women in training and management positions is just as high. Wagner can do this without a ‘women's quota’; equal opportunities for all is an important concern for her.

Ellen Wagner also attaches great importance to her ongoing commitment to education and training. But this doesn't just apply to her own team. The ambitious "maker" has been supporting kindergartens, schools and universities for many years with "WAGNER for kids". "We enjoy doing this, and it's also a good way of recruiting the urgently needed young talent for the future of our company at an early stage."

Her aim is to share some of her own happiness and success. That's why Ellen Wagner is also committed to helping women in need, for example by supporting regional initiatives such as the "Women help Women" association: "To give women a good start in their careers, they sometimes need quick help in difficult life situations. Initiatives such as "Women help Women" can sometimes save lives."
